Borderlands 4 C4SH Augment Slots: How to Run 4 Augments (Devil's Tines)
C4SH plays differently from every other Borderlands 4 Vault Hunter: it has no capstones. Instead of a big finisher at the bottom of each tree, C4SH stacks augment slots. This is verified in-game — see the full skill tree unlock mechanics for how tier unlocks work.
The short version
- Every Vault Hunter starts with 1 augment slot (free).
- C4SH’s three color trees each contain a Devil’s Tines passive.
- Spend 1 point on Devil’s Tines → +1 augment slot.
- Do it in all three trees → 4 augments running at once.
Where Devil’s Tines sits
Devil’s Tines is a passive at the Common T3 tier of each color tree. To reach the Common T3 tier you need 10 points in that tree’s Common section. Then 1 more point on Devil’s Tines itself.
That’s 11 points per tree to bank one extra augment slot:
| Step | Points |
|---|---|
| Reach Common T3 (10 in this tree’s Common) | 10 |
| Devil’s Tines (the passive itself) | 1 |
| Per tree total | 11 |
The cost of all 4 slots
Color trees are independent — points in one tree never count toward another. So getting the extra slot in every tree means paying 11 in each:
11 × 3 trees = 33 points minimum for the full 4-augment setup (default slot + 3 from Devil’s Tines).
At level 60 you have 59 skill points, so 33 into slot-enabling still leaves plenty for the rest of your build.
What does NOT add slots
- Class mods don’t add augment slots. Their bonus skill points also don’t count toward tier unlocks, so a class mod can’t shortcut you to Devil’s Tines’ tier.
- Enhancements live in a separate gear slot and don’t touch augments.
- Slot changes come only from the skill tree. (See the gear slot audit.)
Summary
C4SH trades capstones for augment slots. One point on Devil’s Tines in each color tree — reachable at Common T3 (11 points per tree) — gets you to 4 augments for 33 points total.
All numbers verified in-game (as of 2026-07). Values may change with patches.
FAQ
How many augment slots can C4SH have?
Four. You start with one default augment slot, and each of C4SH's three color trees has a Devil's Tines passive that adds +1 slot when you spend a point on it (+3 total).
Does C4SH have capstones?
No. C4SH is the only Vault Hunter with no capstones. The capstone role is replaced by the Devil's Tines augment-slot passive in each color tree.
How many points does it take to get all 4 C4SH augment slots?
At least 33. Devil's Tines sits at the Common T3 tier, which needs 10 points in that tree's Common section, plus 1 point on Devil's Tines itself = 11 per tree. Trees are independent, so 3 trees = 33 points minimum.
