Red Text
An affinity for disobedience.
A Tediore Pearlescent shotgun that pays you for running dry. Damage climbs as the magazine empties and peaks at +100% with nothing left in it. Managing your magazine is the damage rotation — which is either the most interesting thing about it or the most annoying, depending on your patience.
🧩 Where the red text comes from “An affinity for disobedience.” Some summaries tie it to a line from The Matrix Reloaded, but that origin is unverified. It fits the gun either way: Determined rewards disobeying the basic shooter instinct to reload the moment your magazine dips.
What kind of shotgun is it?
- A Tediore Pearlescent shotgun whose damage rises as the magazine drains (up to +100%)
- Each trigger pull is a 3-round burst consuming 2 rounds per shot, so the magazine empties quickly
- Hold it at 1-0 rounds and every shot lands at maximum boost
- Element is Corrosive Override, so armor melts without you gearing for it
The mechanic
Determined: damage increases as magazine rounds decrease (max +100%).
- At 0 rounds remaining, +100% damage (added to On-Hit Damage)
- The bonus is distributed evenly across the magazine size
- With a 10-round magazine: 5 left = +50%, 1 left = +90%
- Bigger magazines take longer to reach full boost — this gun doesn’t want capacity
- Magazine-refill effects (Witchy Trigger Finger, for example) reset the bonus
- Sustained at 1-0 rounds, every shot fires at +100%
How to actually pilot it Take Ripper’s Charge Mag licence: it burns the magazine down fast so you arrive at maximum boost almost immediately.
Elemental Override
- Carries the Pearlescent-wide Corrosive Override
- Converts automatically against armored enemies, which chews through plating
- Combined with Determined, armor is where this gun is most comfortable
Licence parts and rolls
Prefixes and licence parts are separate axes The prefix reflects the gun’s own parts and hints at its stat bias; licence parts layer another manufacturer’s trait independently. A roll is prefix + licence + anoint + stats together.
| Licence combo | Rating | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ripper | ★★★ | Charge Mag dumps the magazine — instant max boost |
| Ripper + Daedalus | ★★★ | Charge plus underbarrel for extra damage |
| Ripper + Jakobs | ★★★ | Charge plus ricochet for crowds |
| Ripper + Atlas | ★★☆ | Charge plus homing darts |
| Jakobs | ★★☆ | Ricochet only; steady |
| Jakobs + Daedalus | ★★☆ | Ricochet plus underbarrel |
| Shooting Tediore | ★★☆ | For reload-throw builds |
Available licences: Atlas (Dart / Grenade Underbarrel) / Jakobs (Ricochet) / COV (Unlimited Mag) / Ripper (Charge Mag) / Daedalus (Underbarrel, Multi-Loader) / Tediore (Throw on Reload variants).
Farming
| Source | Base rate | Per UVH rank | Max UVH |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ordonite Processor (Ordonite enemies) | 0.6% | +0.05% | 0.9% |
How to run the Ordonite Processor (per 2K)
Base game — no DLC required. Same activity as the Conflux, in Fadefields / Carcadia Burn / Terminus Range.
- Activate a Processor with Eridium
- Kill waves to collect Ordonite canisters; feed them in
- Deposit enough → an Ordonite-Infused enemy spawns and can drop the Pearlescent (0.6%)
- Up to three Infused enemies per run if you’re fast
- UVHM adds +0.05% per rank (max 0.9%)
Because it drops from the exact same activity as the Conflux, one farming session lets you hunt both at once.
Build synergy
| Vault Hunter | Fit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rafa | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Cannon builds make magazine management natural at close-mid range |
| Vex | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Mantra builds burn the magazine anyway — Determined comes free |
| Amon | ⭐⭐⭐ | Corrosive Override into armor |
| C4SH | ⭐⭐⭐ | Little direct synergy with card builds |
Verdict
- A subtraction-based shotgun: the emptier it is, the harder it hits
- Ripper’s Charge Mag is the standard answer for reaching +100% quickly
- Vex’s Mantra build keeps it at 1-0 rounds without trying, which is the best pairing available
- Strong into armor via Corrosive Override; farm it from the Ordonite Processor event
- Score: 8/10

FAQ
What does the Eigenburst do in Borderlands 4?
Determined: damage increases as the magazine empties, up to +100% at zero rounds. Each trigger pull fires a 3-round burst and consumes 2 rounds per shot.
Does a bigger magazine make the Eigenburst better?
No — the opposite. The bonus is spread evenly across magazine size, so a larger magazine takes longer to reach full boost. Small magazines ramp faster.
Where does the Eigenburst drop?
From the Ordonite Processor world event in Fadefields, Carcadia Burn, and Terminus Range. Base rate 0.6%, up to 0.9% at max UVH.
