Red Text
Dangerous toys are fun, but you could get hurt.
A Torgue sticky pistol that turns manual detonation into some of the highest burst damage in the Pearlescent pool. Stickies tick while attached, and a reload-detonation inside six seconds adds the sticky multiplier on top. Elemental Override handles enemy resistances for you, so it stays useful against armor and flesh alike.
🧩 Where the red text comes from “Dangerous toys are fun, but you could get hurt.” is classic Torgue — the joy and hazard of playing with explosives in one line. Some readers connect it to Vash the Stampede from Trigun, but that origin is unverified (MentalMars’ page doesn’t mention a source). Either way it maps neatly onto the gun: sticky explosives are the dangerous toy.
What kind of pistol is it?
- A Torgue sticky pistol — rounds attach to the target and detonate there
- Attached stickies tick damage over time; a manual reload detonation converts that into a large burst
- Its element is Cryo Override, part of the Pearlescent-wide Elemental Override system, so it doesn’t care much what you point it at
- High skill ceiling, high payoff: the whole gun is about detonation timing
The mechanic
Click Boom Boom: sticky projectiles deal damage while attached to targets. Detonating manually within 6 seconds applies the sticky multiplier.
- In-game: stickies tick while attached; the auto-detonation fuse is 6 seconds
- Web (Lootlemon): “Click Boom Boom — Sticky Projectiles deal Damage while attached to targets”
- Attached stickies tick 5 times over 5 seconds (unverified)
- Each tick uses 10% of card damage as its base (unverified)
- Multiple stickies on one target tick independently, which multiplies DPS
- Ticks count as gun hits, so gun skills and Amp effects apply
- The fuse is 6 seconds, shorter than the usual Torgue 10
This is the part that matters Auto-detonation does not apply the sticky multiplier. If you wait out the fuse you’re playing a much weaker gun. Reload to detonate inside 6 seconds, every time.
- Sticky multiplier: smaller magazines give a higher multiplier (standard Torgue behavior)
- Gear Crit applies to everything except Click Boom Boom ticks
Elemental Override
- Labelled Cryo Override, but it carries the Pearlescent-wide Elemental Override system
- Damage type converts based on the enemy’s health type (armor / flesh / shield), so resistances stop being a gearing problem
- That’s what makes it a generalist Pearlescent rather than a niche pick
Licence parts and rolls
Prefixes and licence parts are separate axes The prefix reflects the gun’s own parts and hints at its stat bias; licence parts are an independent system layering another manufacturer’s trait. Neither predicts the other — a roll is prefix + licence + anoint + stats together.
| Licence combo | Rating | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ripper | ★★★ | Charge Mag plants stickies fast, then detonate |
| Daedalus + Ripper | ★★★ | Underbarrel adds a second damage layer |
| Daedalus + Jakobs | ★★★ | Ricochet plus underbarrel; handles groups |
| Jakobs | ★★☆ | Ricocheting stickies |
| Jakobs + Ripper | ★★☆ | Ricochet plus charge |
Available licences: Jakobs (Ricochet) / Ripper (Charge Mag) / COV (Unlimited Mag) / Daedalus (Underbarrel, Multi-Loader) / Hyperion (Accuracy Grip, Gun Shield) / Tediore (Throw on Reload variants).
Farming
| Source | Base rate | Per UVH rank | Max UVH |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Stone Demon | 0.6% | +0.05% | 0.9% |
| Ordonite Processor (mission objective) | 100% | N/A | N/A |
Requires Bounty Pack 2 (the only one of the three that does) The Handcannon needs Bounty Pack 2, Legend of the Stone Demon. The Conflux and Eigenburst are base-game; this one is the exception.
You get one for free Completing the Ordonite Processor mission in Heart of the Mountain awards a guaranteed Handcannon (per 2K). Farm The Stone Demon only when chasing a better roll.
- First copy: complete the Ordonite Processor mission in Heart of the Mountain (via the side mission The Cursed Mine) — 100% guaranteed
- Rolls: farm The Stone Demon, the final boss of Bounty Pack 2 — 0.6% (up to 0.9% at max UVHM)
- It can also drop from Ordonite-Infused enemies at the general Ordonite Processor activity (Fadefields / Carcadia Burn / Terminus Range)
Build synergy
| Vault Hunter | Fit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rafa | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Cannon builds and sticky detonations reinforce each other |
| Vex | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Phase abilities buy the time to plant stickies |
| Amon | ⭐⭐⭐ | Cryo Override keeps it relevant into armor |
| C4SH | ⭐⭐⭐ | Totem pulls attention while you stick targets |
Verdict
- Awkward until it clicks, then it competes with anything in the game for single-target burst
- Manual detonation inside 6 seconds is the whole gun — auto-detonation throws away the multiplier
- Best with Rafa’s cannon build; Elemental Override keeps it honest against every health type
- One guaranteed copy from the mission, then farm The Stone Demon for the roll
- Score: 9/10

FAQ
What does the Handcannon do in Borderlands 4?
Click Boom Boom: sticky projectiles deal damage over time while attached to a target. Reloading within the 6-second fuse detonates them manually and applies the sticky multiplier.
Why does my Handcannon feel weak?
Most likely you're letting stickies auto-detonate. The sticky multiplier is only applied on a manual reload-detonation inside 6 seconds — waiting out the fuse throws away the burst.
Where does the Handcannon drop?
The Ordonite Processor mission grants one guaranteed. For rolls, farm The Stone Demon in Demon's Domain (Terminus Range) — 0.6% base, up to 0.9% at max UVH.
